Why is Rhode Island deemed "The Ocean State?"  Populations flock toward the coast, as the ocean provides a range of different resources, activity and even emotions.  So why did lil Rhody get the title?  According to wikipedia, of it's 1241 Square Miles (3 214 hectacres) of land area, RI is 32.4% water.  Narragansett Bay flows through Rhode Island. RI landmass literally hugs the bay.  What results are calm waters and waterfront properties.  While its state borderlines measure roughly 30x40 miles, Rhode Island boasts hundreds of miles of coastline.
